George Baade is a firefighter and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Specialist with 28 years of experience as a first responder. He has hundreds of hours of training both within the fire service as well as in the HAZMAT specialty area, and he is an instructor for the FDNY. George has been a Hazardous Materials Specialist with FDNY HAZMAT Company 1 in New York, NY since January 2012. His duties include response to and mitigation of a wide variety of spills, releases, and otherwise hazardous conditions involving materials and atmospheres that are toxic, flammable, and/or caustic. Prior to becoming a HAZMAT Specialist, George was a firefighter for 13 years, responding to fires and other emergencies in New York City. George has his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology.
